Challenge
When handling cargo from certain countries, it’s crucial to proactively address the import customs clearance and duty position at an early stage. This allows us to explore duty minimisation options, as Some processes can take up to 180 days for approval. By conducting research and making necessary applications sooner, we increase the likelihood that the goods will be duty-free at the time of import.
Planning
Following the latest import regulations and global trade agreements, our specialists work closely with the client to ensure all necessary paperwork is submitted on time and in compliance with the Australian requirements, maximizing the potential for duty-free import. We also assess any additional mandatory requirements specific to the goods and provide guidance to ensure a smooth import process.
Solution
We conduct thorough research on existing tariff concession instruments, allowing us to prepare applications for submission to the Australian Border Force to confirm the duty-free status of imported goods. If an existing tariff concession is deemed inapplicable, we can file a new tariff concession application to secure duty-free status. If this process is not initiated at an early stage, duties may need to be paid at import and later refunded once the application is approved.
Before importing goods into Australia, it is essential to carefully assess both the goods and their packaging. Certain packaging materials require specific treatments before arrival, and these treatments may vary depending on the time year the shipment occurs. Our specialists are accredited by Australian Biosecurity to provide guidance and access biosecurity requirements for cargo.
